Happy Birthday Roderic
Play Ball!
Roderic played T-ball this spring. All of the teams in the league were given university names/mascots and Roderic got to be on the hometown favorite -- BSU Broncos! I think this sport was a bigger success than soccer last fall, where he liked to run up and down the field waving at us with a big smile.
He made considerable improvement as a batter from the start of the season, meaning he would hit the ball on his first attempt instead of hitting the T many times before.

Cooking with Roderic
On Sunday, Roderic decided he needed a snack. I asked him what he was going to make and he replied, "Ants on a sidewalk."
You have probably heard of "ants on a log" but not "ants on a sidewalk", so I'll give you his recipe.
Ants on a Sidewalk
Toast one slice of bread
Spread some Nutella on the bread
Sprinkle some craisins on top

Wednesday happenings
Rough night of sleep. Leo woke up 30 minutes after I fell asleep and then every 2 hours. Hyrum woke up at some point and came to our room. At 4am, I asked Ryan to return Hyrum to his own bed and I went looking around the house for the bulb-syringe to suck the snot out of Leo's nose. Memo to self: Make sure the bulb-syringe is in Leo's bed before retiring. I couldn't calm Leo down so we spent the rest of the night in the recliner. Morning came much too soon. Very thankful that Ryan took Roderic and Sabrina to school.
Hyrum, Leo and I went to Friends at the Park. Roderic came with Stacy after kindergarten. We ate lunch and I watched the boys play with friends while I talked with friends. Good times. Hyrum ended up taking a nap this afternoon since he played so hard.
Sabrina had her violin lesson. Roderic asked the neighbor if he could play at their house instead of coming with me and my neighbor invited Hyrum to play as well, so it ended up being me and Leo. On the drive over, I asked Sabrina if she'd like me to come into her lesson today. She said she'd rather I not. Instead I took sleeping Leo to the fruit stand and bought the cutest little navel oranges (among other produce). We tried an orange while cooking dinner - sweet and juicy - just like they advertised. Glad I bought 20 (they were 10 for $1).
Ryan had a 30 minutes before the activity meeting with the boy scouts to plan their upcoming camping trip. The first boy who came arrived 10 minutes late. The next boy about 6 minutes later. Then a few others showed up. At 6:30 pm, when the meeting was supposed to be over and the activity beginning, the senior patrol leader came and said he thought the camp out was cancelled because there wasn't enough time to plan it. It's not cancelled. Guess they'll plan this one over the phone.
Happy 70th Birthday Grandpa Gibby!
We all ate a circus peanut in your honor to celebrate - Leo did not eat one. They were delicious.
I'm praying for a better night of sleep tonight!

Disco Time

"It's Disco Time! Rachel, it's Disco Time. See the fan is on. That means it's Disco Time!" (said this afternoon while dancing because the ceiling fan is on) Later, when I retold this to Ryan, Hyrum was agreeing saying that the fan is really a disco ball.
Hyrum is turning out to be quite the musical minded kid. (He told me at Leo's Dr appt. today that he is not a children, he is a kid.)
Last night, he was singing and dancing to his current favorite Primary song "The Holy Ghost" and we actually were able to get it recorded! He cracks me up!
He is going to be the life of the party throughout his life, for sure!

Weighing Leo

When Leo was born (Wednesday night), he weighed 7 lbs 13.7 oz. When we left the hospital 32 hours later (Friday morning), he weighed 7 lbs 6.5 oz. The Dr wanted us to take him in on Monday, just to check on him, he weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and the Dr was surprised and happy that he was already gaining weight! At his 2 week appointment, Leo weighed 7 lbs 12.5 oz and the Dr was concerned that he wasn't gaining enough weight, so he wanted to see him again in 4 weeks, instead of 6 weeks later. I tried to explain to him that my babies have all had their own unique growth curves. They are tall and skinny (wonder where that comes from?!?!?! :P). He still wanted to see him after a month.
Monday morning, the month is up. I get to take Leo to the Dr. I'm excited to see how much he has grown. The newborn sleepers don't fit him anymore, he no longer needs the smallest headroll for the carseat, so obviously he is growing. He eats really well, but he does spit up quite a bit.
Go ahead and weigh in on my poll about Leo's weight. You've got until noon (MDT) on Tuesday.
